A $25,000 Grace Temple CDC S.T.E.A.M. Scholarship

for Students of Color living in Camden County, NJ and will be

attending attend a College or University in Southeastern

Pennsylvania, New Jersey, or Delaware.

The Scholarship

This Scholarship is designed to provide financial assistance to a deserving graduating High School student of color who has hopes of advancing education pursuits, shown consistent academic performance in high school, demonstrated leadership skills, and has been active in the extra curricula activities in their school, community, church, or other volunteer organizations.

The Purpose

The purpose of this scholarship is to enhance the number of students majoring in science, technology, engineering, arts, or mathematics (S.T.EA.M.) at a regional college or university.

The Requirements

Candidates for this award must meet the following criteria:

● Be African American and a member of a religious institution or involved in community service.

● Be a graduating high school senior and legal resident of Camden County, NJ.

● Be planning to major in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, or Mathematics (STEAM) at a college or university in Southeastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, or Delaware).

● Have at least a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale.

● Submit an official school transcript.

● Be available for a personal interview prior to final selection.

● Submit two (2) letters of recommendation as described in the application.

Applicant Criteria

Candidates for this award must meet the following criteria:

1. Must be an African American and a member of a religious institution or involved in

community service.

2. Must declare to major in a Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, or Mathematics (STEAM)

program throughout the four-year school term.

3. Must be planning to attend a College or University in Southeastern Pennsylvania,

New Jersey, or Delaware.

4. Must have a high school minimum or an equivalent of a 2.5 cumulative grade point

average on a 4.0 scale.

5. Must submit an official school transcript.

6. Must enclose application and essay section.

7. Must be available for a personal interview prior to final selection.

8. Must submit two (2) letters of recommendation (one from the school counselor, one

from the student’s pastor or community service representative).

9. Must submit entire application package on or before June 30, 2024.

Please note: Application packages submitted that are either incomplete or illegible will not

be considered.

Application Check List

The following Is to be submitted with the application form:

1. Application form with all questions answered.

2. An Official High School Transcript containing grades, cumulative GPA, and attendance record.

3. Two (2) written references: one from the student’s academic counselor; and one from

either the student’s church pastor, volunteer official, or employer, on official business

stationery.

4. A Letter of Acceptance from the accredited College or University.

5. A 500–600 word essay summarizing the student’s volunteer and community service

activities (past, present, and future) referencing why they should be selected for this

scholarship, along with their college and career plans.

Application Deadline

Applications must be submitted to the Grace Temple CDC Scholarship Fund no later than June 30, 2024.
